Overview
This consultation outlines the proposed changes for the fees we charge for regulating operators under the UK Emission Trading Scheme (ETS), and specifically aviation operators.
As part of our work to deliver Our Approach to Regulation, we ensure that charges still meet our goals. Greenhouse gas emissions are a major challenge to the environment and the Emissions Trading Scheme is a key element in our strategy.
Why are we consulting?
We are the regulator for compliance and enforcement of the UK ETS and Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation scheme (CORSIA). In support of this, we levy a range of charges for different activities for installation and aviation operators.
Currently, we may only levy fees for aviation applications made under the UK ETS. Amendments are proposed to be made to the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Fees and Charges (Scotland) Scheme 2020 to accommodate applications made under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation scheme.
