Overview
The purpose of this consultation is to inform you of our proposal to revise condition C.4.1 of the standard conditions for radioactive substances activities (transfer of radioactive waste outside of the United Kingdom) made under the Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR) regarding the authorisation to transfer radioactive waste to a person outwith the United Kingdom.
Why your views matter
The procedure for revising a standard condition is set out in regulations 33-36 of EASR. Regulation 34(1) states:
“In determining or revising standard conditions SEPA must consult such persons as it considers appropriate.”
What happens next
Following this consultation, we will collate your responses and determine whether any changes are necessary to the proposed revision. We expect to publish the revised standard condition C.4.1 in December 2020. Regulation 36(3)(b) of EASR states that the revised condition will come into effect 3 months after the date of publication. Therefore, as of March 2021, your registration or permit will be subject to the revised condition.
