Draft decision consultation EAS/P/6000001VAR02 - The Caledonian Cheese Company Limited: The Creamery, Stranraer
Overview
Anyone who carries out an industrial activity under Schedule 20 of The Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR) must have an authorisation from SEPA. When we receive an application for a new industrial activity or to modify an existing industrial activity, as part of our determination we will consider the risks to the environment and human health. If we decide to grant an authorisation it will include conditions to:
-
Prevent or, where that is not practicable, minimise environmental harm.
-
Prevent and limit the consequences of accidents which could have an impact on the environment.
-
Use resources in a sustainable way.
The person authorised to carry on the activity must do so in accordance with the conditions of the authorisation.
We may review the conditions of an existing authorisation from time to time to make sure they are still effective in achieving these aims.
Application details
We have undertaken a SEPA-initiated variation for The Caledonian Cheese Company Limited to vary their existing authorisation, PPC/A/1003173 at The Creamery, Commerce Road, Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, DG9 7DA to include a phased introduction of emission limits for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Nitrogen (TN) and Total Phosphorus (TP) in effluent discharge to the water environment to reflect BAT-AEL (Best Available Techniques Associated Emission Limits).
