Dandelion is an ambitious creative programme running from April to September 2022 that demonstrates the power of collective action in a major ‘grow-your-own’ initiative.
Dandelion is inviting everyone to sow, grow and share – not just food, but music, scientific knowledge and ideas. Rooted in Scotland, with an international outlook and sustainability at its heart, the Dandelion programme follows the arc of the growing season, from April to September, and will culminate in hundreds of local Harvest Festivals across the country.
Dandelion aims to make growing your own food as easy and accessible as possible to people of all ages through events and activities taking place all over the country - from the remotest islands to the centres of cities – including festivals, music and cooking.
At the centre of the gardens will sit luminous Cubes of Perpetual Light - part artwork, part laboratory, the cubes are miniature vertical farms, growing hundreds of seedlings under LED light, combining design craft, traditional horticultural expertise and technological innovation.
As part of the Dandelion Project, 13 Unexpected Gardens will be springing up across Scotland during the year, with one being hosted within the Leven Community Centre car park.
The Leven Unexpected Garden aims to be a surprising space for visitors to enjoy, as well as being a productive growing space for local communities to use. It's important that local people have their say in the design of the garden as well as how it will be used during its opening.
We would love your suggestions on how the space should be used, what things we need to consider to make it accessible to all, as well as the activities that you would like to see take place up until September 2022.
Come along to our drop-in event at Leven Community Centre on 4 March between 12pm and 3pm to have a chat and find out more about the new community garden being developed in the centre’s car park as part of our partnership with Dandelion.
Refreshments will be provided.
